    Cashman undecided about deadline needs

    Brian Cashman spoke to reporters yesterday, but as far as the topic of how the Yankees will approach this year’s trade deadline period, Cashman provided little in the way of nuggets for rumor hunters. Cashman did express confidence in the team’s bullpen and lineup, but he was much more non-committal with respect to his starting rotation. “We spent the winter trying to make the rotation a strength. We had some injuries, under-performance early in the year that now are working their way through. Is that a strength? Will it need to be reinforced? I am not ready to make that call quite just yet.”

    I was going to take the occasion of Roger Clemens being acquitted at trial after the prosecution’s case just completely and utterly fell apart over the course of however long it was exactly that they drug that mess out. Thankfully, the Post’s Mike Vaccaro provided a nicely distilled example of what this proves about how we respond to these matters, and how far around the bend we’ve gone in attempting to atone for enjoying watching baseball players who were using “performance enhancing” drugs-other-than-the-ones-Hank Aaron-used:

    Sabathia goes the distance as Yanks win 10th straight

    It took the Yankees’ offense a little while to get warmed up tonight, but once they did the result was another impressive showing against a National League team, and with C.C. Sabathia throwing in a complete game effort on the mound the Yankees were able to handle the Braves matter of factly, winning 6-2 to notch their 10th consecutive victory.
