Potential trade target: Shane Victorino

Even before the latest round of bad news about Brett Gardner yesterday, the new rumor from the mill was that the Yankees were suddenly checking in on the trade market for outfielders, a sudden reversal from Brian Cashman’s continued statements that the Yankees weren’t looking to make a trade to replace the injured Gardner. Though there was the obligatory mention of Justin Upton, most of the day’s focus was on Phillies’ outfielder Shane Victorino. I said yesterday that I didn’t see a ton of value in Victorino right now, but with the possibility that Gardner might not be coming back at all this year it makes a lot more sense to add pretty much any help to the outfield at the right price.
