I hope there's a difference. The PR department at my work is paid to put the best face on things, so who knows?

A blister or bulla is a defense mechanism of the human body. When the outer (epidermis) layer of the skin separates from the fibre layer (dermis), a pool of lymph and other bodily fluids collect between these layers while the skin re-grows from underneath. Blisters can be caused by chemical or physical injury. An example of chemical injury would be an allergic reaction. Physical injury can be caused by heat, frostbite, or friction.

NESN Is just stating it in a nicer way. Its a blister

Thanks. I think he has to stick with his successful pitching style regardless of blisters. Wouldn't you rather him have several really good starts followed by a missed start over a whole season of average to bad starts?

Hell yeah: I'll take four or five Beckett starts with filthy (filthy in a good way) pitching followed by a game like this over the Beckett of 2006.

Might be a little more than a game to trade off if he lost a flap of skin on the tip of his middle finger.

    Dude:Walter...

Wow, chris ray sucks. First he can't throw a strike and then he drops the ball on what should have been the last out.

The Sox should send Perlozzo a gift basket for Mother's Day.

Beckett's stuff looked filthier today than ever before. Those curves he was snapping off were amazing.

I guess there's a price to be paid for it though.

I can't believe they fired Lee Mazzili for this guy. How many breaks do the Red Sox get before they have to start earning their wins? And why can't the Yankees seem to catch a break?

Chris Ray just sucks.. Bottom line end of story.... Every big spot he gets in it seems like he sh!ts himself.. Earlier this year agaist Arod and Willy Mo Pena. He should not be a closer. His fastball is pretty damn strait...

Tito saying Beckett should be find. They need to let the cut heal for a couple days. Better than a blister, but still not ideal. Happened on one single pitch, likely his last one thrown

Great news for the Yenkees, as this Orioles loss moves them into second.
